Peanut Allergy update...

Here is the OP

 http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/2/62235859/ShowThread.aspx

Thanks for all you well wishes for DS and your discussion.

DS is back to normal and we both learned a lot from this experience.  I am happy to say that the school is now 100% nut free.  Also, the school nurse will be holding parent workshops to educate the community about the severity of food allergies in children.  I am happy that the school is moving forward and changing policies so that this will NEVER happen again, to my child or someone else's child.

Re: Peanut Allergy update...

  • I am glad for you!!!!  This fall Stephanie and Evan's school became nut free rather than having each separate classroom decide whether they will be but free or not based on the children.  My kids don't have allergies but they can eat nut things at home....they don't need to bring it to school.

  • I am so glad the school did this. I really feel that is the right thing. My niece has severe dairy allergies. I never knew how common it was until she had it. She had an issue at school once where a teacher gave each child one m & m. Thank goodness my sister was close with her epi pen.

  • Excellent.  I'm sorry it took an incident involving your child, bc no one should have to go through that.. and I'm glad the school is taking it seriously.

  • I'm glad they are doing something. It's a shame that they were not proactive about it and could've avoided your son having a reaction, etc.
