30th Birthday Party- food ideas
I am hostin a 30th birthday party for my husband and his twin sister in 3 weeks. We are having it at our country club for about 100 people. Dacning, DJ, drinks, karaoke etc. My question is what should I do about food? Like I said about 100 people, and it will be from 8-12 so Im assuming people will have already eaten dinner. How much food and what types should I get. WHen you go to a cocktail party do you expect to eat a lot? We meet with the caterer later today and I need to give them an idea of what we want.

When people are drinking, you definitely want food to absorb the alcohol.
The caterer will tell you quantities, but I'd be sure to build a starchy menu. Chips & hot spinach dip, bruschetta, veggies & dip for the girls (people like to feel like they're still watching what they eat), mushroom pinwheels, etc. I wouldn't do more than 2 sweets - people really don't like sweets when they're drinking. Maybe brownie and cheesecake bites.

Hi! Def' agree with PP (Mrs. Tarheels) re: starchy foods etc. Also... this is a time when you can feature one of their favorite foods. ie. I LOVE shrimp cocktail, DH is Italian and likes Pizzettas, Clams Cassino etc.
Or do a sig drink for your SIL... just a thought. Have fun!
