Any ideas?

Mia slept at my mom's last night and woke up with her left eye swollen. It wasn't hurting, just swollen and it went down within an hour or so. I just looked at her 20 minutes ago and her eyelid is really swollen again. There's nothing visible, like a bite or hive, etc and she's saying it just "kind of hurts, like normal". Right now I figure I'll just keep an eye on it because I don't know what else to do for it. She's at my mom's all the time so I don't think it could be an allergy to anything there (she's got cats but so do we). It's just weird.

Nope, no puss and no redness. Maybe that will come tomorrow. It's just odd that it's coming & going.

  • Maybe try flushing it out with some water? Maybe it's an eyelash or something?

  • Could it be an allergic reaction to the detergent your mom uses on the sheets?

  • Could it be a sty? I had a sty a few months ago that literally came out of nowhere and my eye was practically swollen shut for a day....but went away within 2-3...it was more uncomfortable than painful.

Would we see something if it was a sty? I don't see anything in her eye and there's nothing on the lid either. It's so weird. As for the detergent, I suppose it could be if she's using something new but she usually uses the "free" detergents and my daughter sleeps at her house at least once a month w/o issue. Plus, it was swollen this morning & then again tonight, after her shower at our house. Who knows. I guess I'll just wait and see what it looks like in the morning. If it's still swollen I'll give the doctor a call. Thanks :)
