If you have a Wii...

I am thinking of getting one for DH for his birthday in a few weeks (yes, I know we are way behind on video game technology for not having one yet, lol). Do you think it would be OK to buy a refurbished one? They are a good bit cheaper than buying brand new so I could get him an extra game or something. Now that Natalie is older too I think it could be a fun family thing. If you have one, what games do you recommend (adult and/or kid stuff)?

Re: If you have a Wii...

  • i'm sure refurbished would be fine.  wii fit is fun, my daughter has a babysitting game she likes (comes with a baby you put the remote in), DH likes the Sonic and Mario Olympic games.
  • I think refurbished is fine. I can't tell you the last time we played a game on ours. MH uses it to stream Netflix.

  • If I was going to buy any new gaming system I would get the Xbox Kinects, that thing is truly awesome and it kicks the wii's butt. I have the wii and the wii fit and wii active and its cool, but we never use it. The technology for the kinect is just so cool. The wii remotes can also be a pain sometimes. One good thing is you can stream Netflix movies through it onto your TV. I did like that until we cancelled netflix. My kids play it for a limited time because my son is heavily addicted, but he loves the Kids Dance 2, The Nick Fit, and winter sports

We like the Mario games so if I get a game console it will be the Wii. I have heard lots of great things about the Kinect too though! I have pretty much decided on this since I don't really have any other ideas, lol.

  • This probably isn't the popular opinion with most "gamers" but I like the Wii better than Kinnect. Maybe it's because I am big and pregnant but I don't like having to constantly get up LOL. I love Raving Rabbids TV Party, Wii Party and Mario Party for the Wii.

  • Kieran loves mario games, and the nicolodean FIT game- I keep wanting the kinect for working out- but not sure it is worth it- since we have the wii- we are not gamers by any means though- so I couldn't tell you what is better gaming wise, lol!

  • I'm personally nervous about buying refurbished electronics having been burned a few times, but I know a lot of people who do buy them so it's probably fine. We just got a Wii a few months ago and Julia loves playing Mariokart. Otherwise DH has Smash Brothers Brawl and two other games I'm not familiar with (I'm not a game person lol!), all of which are only allowed to be played with the kids are asleep.

We're hoping to get Just Dance and Wii sports, but will wait until we live somewhere without people beneath us before doing that since it's unfair to subject neighbors to that much noise.
