PP period question for moms of more than one

With Lucy I was only partially BFing and my period didn't come back till 11 months PP.  Lexi was EBF and my period came back at 14 months.  I'm hoping for similar this time.  Max is EBF and no pacis.  Anyone have it come back a lot sooner with one kid compared to the others?  I ask because we seem to have had a BC flub last night and I don't think I need to worry too much, but I guess I need some reassurance...  Good lord the vasectomy can not come soon enough!!

Re: PP period question for moms of more than one

  • I'm totally with you on the vasectomy!! DH *finally* just made his first appointment for the beginning of February, but it's just the pre-consultation before they do the actual surgery.

With both of mine so far, it has come back at about the same time (both EBF, no pacis) - about 8-9 months PP. So that means I am expecting it for the third any time now. I was worried it might be earlier with her, since she is the only one of mine that has been a thumb-sucker. However she didn't sleep any better than the other two so I'm sure that was why.

  • E was 10 months

A was 9 - I had PP bleeding and then a week off or so and then got what seemed liked AF...then nothing until 9 months.

Both were EBF until 5-6 months when they started solids

  • With E it got it back about 8 months PP, he started solids at 4.5 months.  With Lance who was completely EBF'd (I pumped a lot with E due to latch issues and supplemented once or twice a week) I got it back at 2 months :0( he didnt start solids till 7.5 months either!  Had NO interest in them.

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
  • I can't comment on period coming back, but good lord I cannot remember to take my pill.  DH better schedule the snip soon or we're going to end up with another

  • DS was FF but DD was EBF. With DS mine showed up around 6 wks PP. My period showed up 4 PP for DD and has been consistently showing up on time since then. Boo. I don't think you have to worry though, seems like yours don't come back for a while.

  • Only 2 kiddos, but with EBF, my period pretty much came back around 13-14months pp.

Are you united with the CCOKCs?

  • With #1 I will say 4 months since that is when I got an IUD and af became pretty regular after that, with #2 I was extremely unlucky and af returned at 8 weeks.

  • i got mine back at 3 months with both kids and both were ebf and ds never used a paci.  dh got his vasectomy 2 weeks after ds was born....but you still have to use bc for a few months after the vasectomy to make sure there is no sperm and be sure he gets a sample tested at 3 months and if you want to be extra sure at 6 months before you stop using any form of birth control.
  • I EBF all 3.  With O, it came back 6wpp.  With the twins, it was 10 months.
  • Girl?!?!  Get yourself some condoms!!!

BF'ing is never a reliable form of birth control.

Check out the 2 under 2 board for alllllll the women who thought they were in the clear because AF hadn't returned yet and they were still EBF'ing.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

Oh we were using something, but it didn't exactly work...  Believe me we are trying to be careful, but the fates were against us last night.

  • Both mine were/are EBF (other than solids). With DS, AF came back around 12 months, when I stopped pumping (but there was also a mess with the implanon and me just bleeding/spotting for like 6 weeks... so I would say AF actually was back closer to 14 months pp); with DD I haven't had AF yet, unless she showed up somewhere in the 8/9 weeks of pp bleeding I had.
