Re: Happy Monday. How was your weekend?

  • Not working today-love that extra day.

Weekend wasn't so good. Or should I say, worst weekend ever. Early Friday morning, we had to put down our 13-year-old yorkie. Possibly one of the hardest things ever. He was suffering from kidney failure and was going downhill quickly. We miss him terribly. We've been spending a lot of time together and with our other pup. They were only 6 months apart. While I know he's not struggling anymore, I still question our decision.  I know it was for the better, but it's still so hard. So, the weekend overall wasn't that good.

  • Are you working today? Nope. As I mentioned in the other thread I'm glad to have today off because of the snow Seattle is getting. But now I'm thinking it would have been easier to make it to work today. More snow is supposed to come in today and tomorrow, so I think Tuesday/Wednesday will be a worse commute.

What did you do this past weekend? Did my weekly errands, cleaned, relaxed, studied, relaxed, ran, relaxed, and started a new book. A bit productive, but I did start to feel lazy. I think I'll get a lot of studying and read more of the book I started yesterday.
  • My weekend was really good actually, and pretty busy. I had a great workout Friday night at the gym after a nice lunch with a friend at a good vegetarian restaurant in Berkeley.

On Saturday, I slept in a bit and then got up and realized there was no coffee in the house!!! So doggie and I walked to the neighborhood convenience store, which luckily sells the local coffee we love. That afternoon, my neighbors invited me over to watch the 49ers game with them (since DH wasn't home and I had no plans), and that was really fun. They're big niners fans and I got swept up in the excitement!

Saturday night, I went to a couple of parties I was invited to. Some friends in the city had a post-holiday party where they do a white elephant gift exchange (you're supposed to bring something you got for the holidays that you didn't want.) I parted with a gift I had no use for, and left with a plastic, elephant-shaped, mini watering can that I actually kind of love. I was amazed to see someone brought tongue scrapers and someone else brought a five-pound gummy bear. Who gives these things as gifts???

After that, I went to another friend's 40th birthday party, caught up with former coworkers and listened to some bad karaoke.

Sunday, I picked DH up from the airport (a day early! yay!) and we went out to lunch together. After we got home, he took a nap and I went on a hike in Tilden with nestie Carfar and our dogs.

  • Nope, not working. This wknd my mom and one of my bros came to visit. They hadn't seen our place since we were still in boxes. We went down to Manhattan Beach (near Redondo) because my brother is taking a computer class and needed something he could only get there. We went to the beach a little and had dinner at a beach cafe.
  • Yes, worked today though I had some comp time so went in an hour late.

Didn't do too much this weekend. Watched the whole first season of Downton Abbey (yea, I'm hooked!) and played some hidden-object video games (love those things, they're so relaxing). Also met dh's friend's new girlfriend, which was fun.

I'm so sorry! They're really a part of our families, aren't they? Don't question your decision. You did the right thing. It's better than waiting too long and letting him suffer. ((((hugs))))

Flameless (as in plug in) "candles" from Costco.

I'm so sorry B. I can't even imagine having to make that decision and go through that. I would be a complete mess. (((hugs)))

  • I didn't work yesterday. I had a semi lazy day with Rose and the kitties.

On Saturday I watched the 49ers awesome win with my mom and on Sunday I adopted a sweet kitty named Phoebe.
