Installing Sirius or XM Radio in Your Car

We have a portable Sirius radio that is really bulky in our car (it is fastened on to our heater/air conditioning slot), and DH said you can take your car to have an XM or Sirius radio put into the dash somehow.  If you've had that done, how much did it cost?  He told me about $300 or so, but I'm thinking more...

Re: Installing Sirius or XM Radio in Your Car

  • we wanted to do the same but it would have cost 700 for the one piece bc our car has a computer so to speak in the dash.
  • oy...what kind of car do you have and where did you get the estimate?  I don't even know where to go.  Best Buy maybe?
  • we went to best buy and they didn't do it for us. So we went to 6ave. I think the best thing to do is not to go to best buy. I think bc they no longer make our car that is why it was so expensive.
  • Thanks for your help.  I guess I'll have to find some "mom and pop" type places.
  • I had it done at Best Buy.  I ordered the part directly from Sirius and Best Buy did the install.  It was years ago so to be honest I have no clue what it cost me, but I'm a total cheapskate so I can guarantee I would not have spent $300 on it.

  • in my old car, i purchased the unit and installation from best buy. It was about $200 total.

in my newer car, I didn't get the stereo i wanted when I bought it so I bought an after market one that has CD, MP3 input, bluetooth, and sirius. It was from cruchfield, the installer came to the house & did it. It was about $400 total.
