Carpet Cleaning - pet stains

I came home to find that the dog had had massive diarrhea while we were out, there are about 9 spots all over the house.

So, what's your go to for pet stain cleaning.  I'm using oxy clean and some resolve pet stain remover - I'm now out of both and need to go to the store.

So freakin' ticked that I'm having to spend my afternoon cleaning the brand new carpet. Blech!

Re: Carpet Cleaning - pet stains

  • Try peroxide. When our old beagle girl was in the last stages of cancer she got sick a lot - peroxide did a great job of taking out the stains.

I'm sorry your pup is sick and you have to clean the carpets - neither is fun!

No more baby siggie pics. Boo.

  • Folex.  Works great and doesn't get the gray tint later that most cleaners get.

I use club soda for most things.  Then a mixture of ammonia and vinegar.  Neither have tinted our carpet, but I'd absolutely try a test spot if you use peroxide (I've had trouble with it, but we have darker carpets).

  • Our dog gets sick often (well, not so often anymore but it used to be really frequently) so we have a little green machine and I couldn't live without it!  I pull it out every 2 weeks to get little spots from Emmaline's snacks in the living room ; )  It's really easy to use and was pretty cheap (my parents got it for us as a wedding gift since the pup was sick all the time.  I'm pretty sure they paid about $100).  I recommend investing if you want to keep your carpets lovely ; )

If you need to borrow ours, let me know!

  • I've had great luck with Arm & Hammer Pet Odor & Stain Remover that has oxyclean in it. I get it at Target. Our dog is getting up there in age & is a tad incontinent, and this stuff works really well on it. And has worked even better when he's had diarrhea. I hope your pup is better soon!
