My DH just got laid off. Last day is Thursday, gets paid through the end of the month.
We are fuuuuucked. I am not on leave, I quit my job to focus on my own business but was counting on his income to actually make it this year. We don't have enough in savings to live for more than three months without any other income coming in.
It really hurts, he worked in the same office I did with the same boss and apparently the boss has known this was coming since before the holidays and baby but didn't want to say anything. I don't know what we're going to do.

I am SO sorry =( I can't imagine going through this after just having a baby and making the decision to quit so you could pursue other things.
Hang in there and know that there is hope on the other side of this mess. I was laid off in a really nasty way so the company I worked for could promote a male who had loyalties to a different group of mgrs and it was the same place DH worked. It was such a huge mess and I cried for weeks feeling so awful and helpless, but it the long run I am so happy it happened to us. It was a really good change in the end and some great things came of it, but at the time I thought our world was ending. Not too comforting when you have a new baby and are dealing with so many difficult things, I know, but we are all here for you. Let us know if there is anything we can do.
What industry will he / you be looking for?
I am so sorry, this happened to us last year at this time. No warnings nothing. Hi, don't come back tomorrow, here's two weeks pay. I was sick at the time and the hit on our health insurance was the worst.
Anyway, we ended up moving to California and are doing much better but sending hugs and good juju to find a new job. It really pisses me off when these companies know they are going to do something but instead of telling you so you can look for other job opportunities, they just wait and drop the hammer. It's brutal. I am really angry for you.
Wow. I can't believe your old boss did that - especially knowing full well what your plans were. That sucks.
I'm happy to pass along any leads I hear of - what type of position is DH looking for?
