the Italian cruise ship
a couple from the town I grew up in are the Americans still missing.
It's all so scary - they are comparing it to the Titanic. I know there are so many things different from the Titanic (water temp, boat didn't actually sink, etc) but I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been for people aboard the ship. It sounds like such a tragic mess.

6 have been found/confirmed dead. 29 are still missing.
I have always said I wouldn't go on a cruise - this kinda seals the deal. Between this and all the ones that come down with norovirus.

It is sad that nobody did anything to help the people that were off the ship, alone, without money or id's. This couple's travel agency back home in the US sent them two tix to get back to the US and wired them money. The cruise company apparently didn't do much of anything.
They are part of my Juice Plus+ extended family, this email was sent out today:
The H***s have asked us to send out an email to everyone in order to pass on some sad news. A's parents were among those on the cruise ship that capsized off the coast of Italy on Friday. At this point, they still have not heard from them, and they are the only two Americans still unaccounted for. They have been in contact with the embassay in Italy and have been told that unfortunately they are either hurt or have died in this accident. And while they (the H***s) have not received any official news, reporters have contacted A's brother and sister seeking comment. They have asked that everyone be praying for their family as they are still waiting to hear what has happened. They have also asked for privacy during this time and have asked for people to instead of flooding them with calls or visits, to flood them with prayers. Understandibly this is a tough situation for the family, and they need time as a family to work through everything. They have said they don't need anything at this time, but if that changes, we will let everyone know. We will be sending out an update to everyone as soon as more information is available.
It has to be horrible not knowing anything and from so far away.
