when I watch House Hunters International while these people buy expensive 2nd homes, I am totally envious!! It makes me feel a) that I suck at managing money & (even I cut every coupon I don't think a 2nd vacation home would happen), b) I should've married rich (LOL) and/ or c) I should've picked a different career.
Either way, Im jealous yet I still can't help but watch!
Re: I have to admit
So true. My sister is moving to Houston and was showing me apartments - they're all new and nice and have 2 or 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, patio, fireplace, etc., and run $900 and under a month INCLUDING utilities. She said she estimates salary to be about 10% less, so there goes that argument that they make less significantly less there.
While the amount may be minimal, consider too that many of those International episodes are in Europe which means that paying for healthcare is not an issue. The COL could be much different than in some places here too but I'm sure there are countries where it is as much if not more than here. A lot of those people don't seem to be rich, per se. I don't know-- maybe they are better money managers than many here.
Yeah, whenever I watch that show I get envious as well. Especially when they can go off for months at a time to their 'vacation home'. That must be nice.
