Those who have had their kids' birthday parties out at a place...

I am currently searching party places for my daughter's 3rd birthday...I was wondering how much is average or reasonable for a child's birthday party with mostly everything included, maybe about 15 kids.  How much did you spend on your kids' parties that were out at a place, like a party gym or something similar?

Re: Those who have had their kids' birthday parties out at a place...

  • We did M's 5th birthday at House of Bounce, and including pizza, drinks (food and drinks for adults and kids) it was about $450.  We brought our own cupcakes, and that was it.

  • We just did bumper bowling for 12 and it was $210 including pizza.

  • we did B's 5th last month at Bounce U and with 24 kids including everything, food for both kids and adults, cake and goodie bags it was a little over 500.

  • Little gym was pretty reasonable. 12 or 14 per kid I don't remember. I just had to bring cake and goodie bags
  • we had G's at the gym that I belong to. It was less than $200 including pizza. Only thing I had to bring was cupcakes/favors.

  • Everywhere I have called for this was $400-$500.

  • If you're doing a gym type party, around here it's about $15-$20/kid on average. If you're doing something else (cooking, pottery, etc.) then it will run more like $25-$30/kid.......at least that's what we've done with b-day parties.

  • Thank you all for your responses!  It is really appreciated....it is the first time we are looking for a party place, and the place we are looking at was about $350 and it included everything--food for kids, invitations, goodie bags, etc.  Only thing not included was food for adults and the cake, which I can get at Sam's for like $15 or so.

My husband thought this was very high, but he is comparing it to a friends' party who is in PA who did it at Chuck E. Cheese and said it cost them like $200 (which I also priced out here in NJ and it still would have cost us about $350 for the 15 kids).

Going to keep looking and trying to convince my husband...we had her birthday at the house last year and while it was fun, it was nuts in my house with 15 kids running wild and I prefer just not to have to deal with the mess again.  Thank you for the responses so far!

  • I've done parties that ranged from $240 - $350 - not including food
  • We just had Billy's at Jumonasium.  For 24 kids, food for adults, cake, etc. it came to almost $500.

Little Gym was around $365. Everything (cake, pizza, juice, invitations) but goodie bags.

Jellybean Junction is $330 and up. Include all the above except change out cake and put in goody bags

  • Remember to factor in tip as well. 20% on top of $300-$400 adds up.

We did Jellybean Junction this year too.

  • We are doing paint your own pottery for DD's party and it is $18 per kid. They provide paper goods, I provide snacks/cake and favors.

  • We did Little Gym and I think it was like $270 for 15 kids which included everything but pizza, cake and goodie bags. We opted out on the pizza cause the party was at 2pm and I picked up my own cupcakes!

you can cut down on the price by eliminating the pizza aspect. I always try to do this. Then you just bring cupcakes or cake. If you start between 1:00-3:00 and are done by 5:00 you dont have to feed anyone I think. Or start at 10:00 and finish my 12:00

We've had 2 birthdays at play places. The first was Chuck e. Cheese and cost almost $400 with everything except cake and favors. The 2nd was at JerZJump and it was over $600. The provided an ice cream cake but I got regular cake and favors. What place are you looking at? I'm surprised they allow you to bring in outside food. Most places dont but I'd love to know who does because I would love to bring in food from a caterer of my own choosing.
