Re: Mums Bumps & BBTs
Hi all!
Ups: E's doing great, she's a cute little happy girl. She's so excited every time we put her in her high chair and she LOVES to eat!
Downs: Since christmas her sleep has been messed up, the other night I was up with her 3-4 time, that's more than when she was first home!
QOTW: My baby carrier, I couldn't of done so many things without it, I still wear her in it every day, to take M for a walk, to do the groceries. I've gotten more use out of it than our stroller!
Ups: DD is walking everywhere and showing her true colors...she?s got a naughty streak that?s for sure! She loves to feed the dog when I?m not looking. She?s been told she shouldn?t, and she knows this, but she does it anyway.
QOTD: The nursing pillow was a life-saver. I liked the carrier, but I don?t use it anymore because I find that she?s too heavy and doesn?t like to be in it anymore.
Ups: W is hilarious. He likes to do something funny and then do it again and again and again.
Downs: Our place feels too small now. For more ways than one.
QOTD: I don't really know. We got a white noise machine for his 1st birthday that I wish we had when he was born.
Ups: D is able to communicate with more than with grunts and crying. He's got about 50 words in his vocabulary, 15 that he uses on a routine basis, and is so much happier for it.
Downs: His sleeping pattern is flipped, so we're up all night. Trying to get it switched back is difficult.
QOTW: Witch Hazel. I don't think I would have healed as fast without it.
Ups: We had a succesful day at the embassy yesterday. Got her birth abroad and passport applications done. Yay! This is extra huge because we move in a few months.
Downs: Had a cracked nipple for a few days. Ouch! DH had a four-day holiday weekend and went into work for an hour (or five) three of those days. Still waiting for a confirmed start date at daycare for BabyGirl so I can give a confirmed return date to work.
QOTW: Stroller frame for the infant car seat. The frame is only 12lbs and so much easier than a regular stroller. Other than that - coffee to get going in the mornings, and a small glass of wine to relax in the evenings.
Morning!
Ups: DD has started going to only 2 naps a day, so those are usually 1 - 1.5 hours, and I find I hardly know what to do with myself in that huge chunk of time :-)
Downs: She's still up 3 times / night, and in the middle of the night I don't have the willpower to do night weaning. I just want her to stop crying so I can go back to sleep. I might bite the bullet and try in 2 weeks when things settle down at DH's job, though. It has been over 9 months since I had more than 4 hours of sleep at a time, and that's getting kind of old.
QOTW: I'd say it was our co-sleeper or our cloth wrap. The co-sleeper (a crib with an open side that attaches to our bed) allowed me to stay in bed to feed her. I would get up, make a bottle, then come back to bed and doze while she drank. The first 3 months she screamed whenever I put her down during the day, so the cloth wrap was a lifesaver for doing things like cooking or washing bottles.
Ups: N is getting more mobile and having fun with that. She was in her room on Saturday morning (with DH) and I was still in bed. I called out to her, she heard me and came looking for me - knew to push our door open. She was delighted with herself!! (Still not up on her knees, but she moves quickly nonetheless). She's also started to pull herself up to standing.
Downs: N is not mobile enough for her liking... she wants to be upright and walking! So she gets very frustrated and does a growl like noise, which is very irritating! Drives DH mad! With the pulling herself up to standing, she "practices" in her cot but it hasn't been going so well... Sunday I picked her up from her nap with a red mark across her forehead and yesterday morning DH heard an awful clatter and then crying cos she had fallen over again! She forgets to hold on...
QOTW:Bouncy chair so that I could have my hands free to have a cup of tea and she would think she was in my arms because she was not flat and could be bounced!
Hello there. I'm ready for this baby to come.
UPS: I've been getting to know the girls in my NCT group and they are all really nice. I also had a pregnancy massage last week which was amazing.
DOWNS: I've got a terrible, terrible cold and am feeling sorry for myself. I just feel like crap, haven't been sleeping, and spent all day yesterday laying on the couch watching TV. I'll probably do the same today.
Morning! Ugh, a rough night here last night. Yesterday DD slept all day and when she wasn't sleeping she was screaming. Then she decided nighttime sleep was not a good idea and we went to bed around 2am and she was up nearly every half hour. This is not her normal pattern so I'm guessing she's got a growth spurt or it's one of those wonder weeks I keep hearing about. Either way I'm wiped and so glad to see she seems to be happier today -- for her sake and mine!
Ups: She is starting to grab things! Right now she is punching the toys on her playmat and amazed when they move.
Downs: The above.
QOTD: My Boppy. I live with that thing. I use it all day and at night. Even though I mastered side-lying BFing I found I always fell asleep and I didn't want her in our bed. I thought it would make things easier and if that was the only way she would fall asleep still I would do it, but I slept horribly when she was in bed with us and she seems to sleep better in her bassinet anyway.
The Moby/Ergo has also been lifesaving for getting chores done and mostly so I am able to walk my two dogs at least once in the afternoon.
Downs: no luck again, and I had unfortunately gotten my hopes up.
Ups: Starting clomid today, and if all goes according to plan, we'll have our first IUI cycle next week. Just in time for a week of pure indulgent relaxation in the Maldives.
Cecilia arrived 12 October 2012
We are taking a nap- hooray!! I can post before midnight!!
Ups: I am only taking this with a grain of salt, but DS spent the entire night in his co-sleeper! We also changed DS' formula to stage 1, because he clearly was not getting full from his formula. He is much calmer now, and a much more happy baby.
Downs: It turns out that I don't sleep when DS is not in our bed either. I kept waking up to check on him in his little bed anyway. I am also having major mommy guilt about giving up on breastfeeding. I know it was the best decision, especially since I can go back on my arthritis medication, but its like the guilt has been eating me up for the past few days. Ugh!
QOTW: We just bought a wrap yesterday, so I am really looking forward to seeing how "babywearing," goes. DS loves being held, and if we can figure this thing out, I might be able to get a few things done around the house. For us, the most useful thing has been the vibrating chair. DS only spends about an hour at a time in it, but he really sleeps well, and I can take a shower!
Ups: DS has a caregiver who comes once a week that he loves. Which means when I deliver this baby he is on good hands and won't miss us too much. I was really worried about this when we were in Korea because it was just his parents, and when we got back to the UK it was quite an adjustment for him to be left with anyone.
Down: I am four days overdue. I had an internal yesterday and not really dialated at all. I was quite suprised by this as I have been having contractions. I really do not want to be induced and then end up having a c-section again just like last time. Plus, DS's birthday is on Monday and I don't want them to have to share a birthday, but have separate days. We shall see. I will be induced next week, the day after DS's birthday if nothing happens sooner.
QOTW: Breastpump- My milk came in really late, but that pump saved us from having to give up in breastfeeding altogether.
I'm sorry, Sushisamba. I hope this will be your cycle.
We are ok, just busy. Alexandra's first molar has popped through. Constipation seems to be better after an unexpected dr visit last week when A stopped eating. It had been building for months and we had tried some dietary changes which helped, a bit, but then last week she was waking up in so much pain trying to go and refusing to eat. So, suppositories and two different laxatives later, she is doing better. Now she's just taking a laxative twice a day and we will follow up with the dr next week. Hopefully, this continues to improve.
QOTW: My Boppy pillow. It really helped me nursing when A was really little. I also liked using it later on to help her sit up.
Did you take the NCT class? Who was your instructor?
I agree with the baby carrier. I used a ring sling for the first 10 weeks or so, then moved on to a mei tai or ergo, and now use the beco. I use it several times a day every day and she is 9 months. I love it.
Can I be added to the list?
My DS, Leo, was born Nov 25 2010.
I'm due with our next one Aug 3, 2012 (right in the middle of the Olypics!)
Ups: DS is now properly walking, he's been doing it for months but only under active encouragement- now he is independently walking everywhere and is super pleased with himself. Regarding the bump I have my first scan next Monday (I'll be in my 13th week) and then I can finally tell everyone- I've told a few but really want to wait for the scan to go public.
Downs: I'm having some nanny issues. My nanny (who's 50) has a daughter (who's 24) who is pregnant. The daughter is very dependent on my nanny (even though the daughter has a partner). Yesterday my nanny went home early because her daughter was sick. I'm worried that once the baby is born the daughter will become even more dependent on my nanny and this will cause issues (either the daughter bringing the baby over to our house, or the nanny taking time off to help, etc.). I need to obviously speak to the nanny about my concerns but it's annoying me already.
QOTW: The biggest help was having help! I had my cleaner come extra days and ordered a lot of take-out. There was definitely no time for any cooking or cleaning!
Sushi, I'm sorry there's still no baby. Hopefully the clomid coupled with a nice relaxing trip to the Maldives will be just what the doctor ordered!
frl- Sara Sava(something). She's married to a Turkish guy. I liked her a lot. She was very down to earth.
I wasn't sure if it was the same one I had but her name is Jillian I think. I loved those classes, and 4 years on and me back in the US and I still am in touch with the girls from my class!
I'm doing pretty good! After Christmas my lower back has really started bothering me though.. I've been trying a few different things, massage, chiropractic, and a few days ago I asked my DH's Cousin who is a physical therapist if there was anything I could do. So hopefully between the combination of exercises etc I can get it to be less painful. Last week icing it was the only thing that would help when it got bad!
Here's a bump pic.

My Blog
Hi all!
Ups: Baby girl is having more awake times and it's fun to watch her looking all around. I'm just loving being a mom all around! She's so cuddly and makes cute faces!
Downs: Baby girl spits up a lot, so I always have to be prepared. I wish I could pick her up without worrying. Also, still not sure we're out of the woods on her having dirty nappies on her own, but I'm hoping we are.
QOTW: More muslin clothes for all the spit up! The little ones I have do not cut it. I've resorted to using receiving blankets as burp clothes since I wasn't using them for anything else. She loves her swing and the swaddle sack I have for her is also really good. The Angel Care monitor also lets me sleep without feeling the need to check that she is constantly breathing.
Sorry your back hurts! I found sitting on an exercise ball really helps me.
Hello!
Ups: M is properly walking. She helps me (she helped unpack the veg box today) and it's so cute! She also is getting more into rough and tumble play, climbing and is becoming a proper toddler. So cute. W is great, though also getting more rough and tumble and so big it's becoming an issue.
Downs: She is still nursing like a fiend and I can't seem to get her to cut down. Also I've been trying to work on naps (for both) and it's just such a muddle. I STILL feel like I do'tn have enough time off from M during the day to give W proper one on one time.
QOTW: for me, different with different children. With William it was the boppy cushion. With M, it was the carrier. I agree with muslins for both. I still use muslins. I love them.
Up: LO is talking more and more. Ten months ago, he was, for all intents and purposes, nonverbal. He's come so far and I am so proud of him!
Down: He has been a bit harsh with the dog, even so far as trying to headbutt him this morning (because the dog tried to eat part of his bagel that was on a plate on LO's kiddie table). I need to get across to LO not to hit (or headbutt). He's not getting it.
QOTD: LO's vibrating bouncy seat. He loved it and slept like a dream in it! It was his "go-to spot" for daytime naps. (My Keurig was a close second for necessities!)
