As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Didn't mean to disappear on you ladies....
Hi ladies! I know I've been MIA and just wanted to check in. I never ended up being able to have our Christmas Open House. The Thursday before the party, DH got really, really sick and had to be hospitalized for a few days. The next few weeks were a whirlwind, yet also felt like they were on pause at the same time. Just having him home and healthy made it the best Christmas ever! Things are going well now and are pretty much back to normal. I don't know how many of you regulars remember, but last year I had to cancel my Christmas cookie exchange when my grandmother passed away unexpectedly..... I think I'm going to lay off hosting Christmas things for awhile... maybe it's bad karma! Anyway, I'm back and will be lurking around

BTW - am also glad that your husband is feeling better. I find Christmas such a busy time of year that I never host anything until it is over. (Am doing Thanksgiving again this year). Between Christmas and NYE I just try to be the gracious guest... and make the house nice for the kids.
Last year at about this time I had some close friends over for a winter dinner and it was great. People whose kids are in sports etc. the rest of the year were available and I think everyone had a good time. I did a really simple menu, Pork Loin, Mac-n-Cheese, Salad etc.

So glad your DH is better! A party doesn't matter compared to that!
Maybe try hosting spring and summer affairs instead
