Disclaimer: These are just made up numbers.
Say you should consume 1400 calories to lose weight.
Exercise burns 200 and leaves you with 1200.
Are you supposed to make up those 200 calories lost as well?

Basically, you should burn more than you consume and how you get there is up to you!
I should eat around 1800-2100 calories on any given day to maintain my weight. I burn about 1400 just living and can burn over 500 working out.
Does that make sense?
