FFC: phone calls

I frequently use my kids as an excuse to get off the phone with my dad. 

I'm currently on the phone with him, listening to him complain about how he has no say in the house and my sister (who lives with my parents) is lazy and doesn't do a darn thing to help out or pay for anything.  It's the same thing all the time and I'm tired of listening to my parents complain about my sister and niece. 

I'm trying really hard to not use the kids as an excuse right now.

Sometimes you just have to use them as an excuse.  The last thing you want is for your dad to bring down your day with his negativity.

I did use them as an excuse, but indirectly.  I told him I had to go get some things done around the house while they were sleeping.... that included me just sitting on my butt watching tv. =/

I've used my cell phone to call my work phone to get out of talking to a family member before.  "Oh, my other line is ringing!  I gotta go!"
