I am livid

You may remember that I quit my previous job a little over 2 months ago. We were beyond micro-managed. I agreed to stay on per-diem and take an occasional patient close to home, but have never heard a word from my company.

Until today.

They want me to make some changes to notes I wrote NINE MONTHS AGO. ASAP, of course. I don't get paid for any of this.

I really want to just ignore the e-mails, but I don't know if I should.

Re: I am livid

  • I think it's within reason to either ignore the request, or respond and say you will do the edits provided they are willing to pay you to do them. You are no longer an employee, so it's up to you. If they wanted them edited, they should have asked you to do that before your last day.
  • I'd be mad too, and honestly wouldn't answer the emails for at least a week.  You do have another job and you're busy, right?  They can wait.

This -and in the time frame sara_c mentioned.

You can't just call up ex-employees and be like "oh yeah, you still have to work for us, and for free, AND RIGHT NOW!!!"

I am pretty sure that is not what you meant by "I quit."

  • Yeah, I would be pissed.  And I would probably just ignore it until it becomes so important someone gets on the phone and calls you.  At that point I would say I will do it for $x and not until x day.  The nerve of some people...

  • I wouldn't even respond to it.  You are no longer their employee and you owe them nothing.   Is it even legal to change the notes this long after the fact?  that just sound fishy to me.
  • I agree with PP, I would either ignore it or ask to be compensated for your time.  You are no longer an employee of theirs and they cannot make you do it.

So either demand compensation or ignore it and do not let it bother you.  It's not your issue, it's theirs ;)

    This!

  • You are licensed, correct?  Are these "changes" malicious for the purpose of protecting their ass or for the purpose of adding more clarity or missing info?  I know that whomever I work under, I'm still obligated under my license to keep records.

  • If it were me, and my name was on those notes and something was WRONG with them, I'd fix them to save my own $%^ if something ever came up.  If they were perfectly fine and it was only for the company's benefit, I would say they could pay me to do it or I wouldn't...
