iphone mamas--docks and apps

Just wondering if you use your iphone in the baby's room for music? If so, what do you dock it in? We received a sound machine for white noise and other sounds, plus it projects stars on the ceiling. I'd rather not have two things in the room for sound, so is a dock even worth it?

Also, any mommy apps you think are awesome? TIA!

Re: iphone mamas--docks and apps

  • I don't because then I need to leave my phone in there. It would ring during sleep times, I'd want it for something, etc. We've had the white noise machine on 24/7 for 10.5 months now :)

I used babybix to keep track of nursing and other stuff at first.

  • I wouldn't want my phone in the baby's room because then it would be trapped in there all night while the baby was asleep.  I'd go with the stand alone white noise machine if you already have one.  We just use a fan and it's always worked great.

  • No - like C, I prefer to have my phone so I can use it to make calls, text, apps, etc.   We have a stereo in the room that I can play a white noise CD on, but that's it.

As for apps - I liked the similac app for tracking breastfeeding.

I have a ton of other apps for kids - but more for toddlers than babies.

  • That sound machine sounds like a good plan - probably wouldn't need to dock your phone then if it has white noise and such.  My kiddos didn't have any sound machines, but they slept really well at Sunnytree's house when she had her white noise on at night.

I don't know of any apps for baby care - makes me feel old that we didn't really have too many apps 5 1/2 years ago - but I would love to ask Siri, "Why is my baby crying?" or "Can I have a glass of beer at 2pm since I'm on maternity leave and hops is good for breastfeeding?" and see what she says.  Wink

Are you united with the CCOKCs?

  • We don't use our phones for music in her room but I do have an app that I love - Total Baby.  It was $5 but is great for tacking times of feedings, diaper changes, etc. in those early days plus you can drack dr. visits, growth, immunzations, etc.  You can also use it for multiple kids.
