How often do you get out of the house alone?

I babysit all week and can't leave the house so I rarely get out anymore.. I am finding it more and more necessary to have an hour or two a week of "me" time out of the house..

A lot. I usually try to go out to dinner with a friend, any friend, like once a week. Sometimes it doesn't happen, sometimes it's two times in a week. I have a mothers helper come once a week, and on days I work I have the sitter till 6. I get out of work around 4-4:30 and either do what I have to do on my way home or just come home and don't tell them I'm home until 6p.

My me time is extremely important to me so I make it happen.

  • Only when they go to preschool, which is 2 mornings a week. I live for that time!

  • I assume you mean besides food shopping? lol

A few times a month maybe?  January is awesome - I feel like I've had at least one thing every week.  I feel like a social butterfly. ;)

  • Once a week at least, plus I am kid free 3 mornings week. I go out to dinner with friends at least once a month, sometimes twice depending on how busy everyone is
  • It's been a very long time! Thx for the reminder!!! Need to call my grls ASAP
  • Even though Anna is only 10 weeks old, it's been really important for me to get to a yoga class, spin class or to dinner with friends... I had a facial once, that was awesome. Even if Matt just watches Anna so that I can get to the supermarket, that makes me feel human again. LOL

  • my 2-3 days a week that i work are "me time" :) I usually do shopping on the way home from work... and at lunch time if i don't have a lunch appt, I eat alone and read, which i LOOOOVE. In the summer I will get a pedi during my lunch sometimes...

for me going to the grocery store alone is also "me time" - i like doing it... so i'll go on weekends when the kids are napping... and go out with the girls a couple times a month.

I think i get a good amount of me time.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • Not as often as I would like. I do go to the gym 3-4 times a week and leave the kids in the childcare room so I do get some time alone.

  • During the day? I have Mon and Tues mornings to myself. On the weekends, I get time.

At night? I get a lot. I have every Friday night "off", do date nights with DH, my knitting group, out to dinner with friends, my Mom's Night Out, etc.

  • Besides working?  Well, now that I stopped working evenings until 8pm, I anticipate going out at least once a week for various things - dinner w/ friends, photography club, Flight Night at the dance studio, etc.

  • My alone time is basically at the gym. 1 hour a day 5x a week. I do sometimes take her with me but she's in the kids room.

  • Once a month I go to dinner with the girls I coach with.  I also coach twice a week do that time, too.  Otherwise everything is with Julia.  I don't necessarily want time with others, but id love to be able to go to the mall alone to try clothes on or get a hair cut or (gasp!) go to the doctors alone.

Ah that reminds me.....I actually did go to the doctor 2 weeks ago.  I purposely got there 30 minutes early so I Could read in peace and quiet.  This couple came in with their two young kids.  The kids were loud, which is fine, they are kids and I've perfected the art of blocking out small children.  And I'm not one of those "ugh, kids!" people......BUT.....their parents were all "that's a kindle....it's like your iPad Joshua.  Maybe the lady will show you!". really????

  • Um... not enough. I go food shopping on the weekends (which I do enjoy- I'm sick) and yesterday I got a pedicure. The issue is me, John constantly tells me to pump and leave him with the baby. I want to but then get anxious when the time comes and don't go... I guess it's bc he's still so new but I'm working on getting over it bc I really enjoy doing things without him lol.

I was like that the first few months. I'd still go, and I'd be fine on my way to my destination, then get anxious once I was there and I'd book back. It does go away.

  • Well I work FT out of the house so I'm essentially out of the house alone from 9-5 each day.

Aside from that I'm only really out of the house alone once a week for an exercise class.

  • Does going to work count lol!  I usually go to dinner once a month with friends but other than that sadly that's pretty much it since I work full time and my DH has odd hours.

  • Unless there's something I need to do during the week, i just hang out at home once DH gets home. Once in a blue moon i'll take a hot bath on a weeknight while DH does all the kid stuff and gets them to bed.

On weekends it varies, sometimes we'll all go run errands, other times i'll just say "see ya" and go. It really depends what we've got going on.

  • Not as much now that I have two kids, and R is still young. I was better at it when I was home on maternity leave but now with work, it is hard. I work 50+ hours a week so I am tired. I used to go out during nap time on the weekends, but most times I am too lazy to even do that. DH doesn't get much alone time either. It will get easier as R gets older.

  • Aside from going to work..about once a week or so. Whether its going out to Target alone or going out with friends.
  • Now that Abby is in school 3 days a week, for 3 hours. I get that time to myself.  When she was a baby I got very little time alone.  I did enjoy the time alone when she was younger, but I always felt guilty.  If I want time over the weekend I can get it.  If I got my  butt to the gym more often I could have that time too.

LOL yes!!!!  This guy was so annoying.  When they walked in he started a conversation with me about his kids and I just did the polite smile, nod, look back at my book.   I did wind up showing the kid because I was just dumbfounded.

  • well i work so i have 9 hours out of the house.

i TRY and get out on my lunch break or grab a mani on the weekend or smetihng. but its hard. i don't get a lot of just ME time.

but the TWO of us go out usually once or twice a month. this month is big since we where out last sat/this sat and away next weekend. but than again we won't be really doing anything again till late march

  • Excluding work and the three hours of commuting daily and the occasional solo grocery trip?  Almost never.  Yay me!  (Excuse the sarcasm.  Had conversation yesterday with a stay at home mom who has "help" almost daily for her gym trips, coffees with friends, required manicures, etc., all the while telling me how "lucky" I am to get out of the house daily (to work, which sucks), I'm feeling a bit bitter right now! :))

  • I got food shopping every Tues night alone.  Sadly that's my weekly ME time.  Prob go out with the girls once a month - sometimes twice depending on what's going on.

I just started back up with Zumba classes so now every Thurs I do that too.  But I consider that me time.

I def take more me time than DH though.  He's so exhausted from work he'd rather stay home and have his me time there while I'm out and the kids are sleeping.

  • Well i work FT so I am out of the house from 7:30-4pm. The kids are picked up at 4:45 and they go to sleep by 8. So we get 3 hours together at night. 2 nights a week I go to the gym for a class that is 1 hour each, I take a class on Sunday am for an hour and also do a long run on Saturdays for ~an hour but will be increasing due to training. MH and I have an agreement where we get our own time. it is very important to us as parents and a couple. We have date nights every couple weeks and we also go out with friends here and there. Like tonight I am meeting a friend and cousin for sushi and drinks. MH will go out with his BF for the sane thing when their schedules are good. I would be miserable if I never went out.
  • I go out at least once or twice  a week with friends. I also work 9-5 so that also gives me away time from home. I get out every day during Lunch time to do my shopping.

  • I can't really put a number on how often - but pretty often.  My husband and I have an understanding that if I want to go out, he has the kids and vice versa.  It doesn't matter if I want to go out 4 times in a week - he's fine with that.  But when he has something come up that he wants to do, I have to be understanding as well.
