Closet Organization Systems?

Curious if you have any experience with them?  We've looked at Ikea and I don't think theirs will work for us, but we don't want to go as high end as California Closets (as in, we are totally okay with doing the assembly ourselves).

We were looking at Easyclosets.com or http://www.technikclosets.com/

Thoughts?

Re: Closet Organization Systems?

  • I just bought a new closet system at the container store.. do you have one of those?  We installed it ourselves (very easy) and I love it!!  I've never heard of that website you suggested, so I'm not sure how it works.  But at the container store they design it for you, and cut the pieces if needed (for no extra charge) so you know it will fit perfectly!
  • I have Container store system for our master closet and love it.  It was pricey and we split it up in two yrs.  We did one wall one year and the the rest the other year.

When it came to plan the closet for our nursery, we used container store for ideas and design but went and purchased a kit from Lowes and it turned out great.  There's a lot of options out there and even some of the kits can really work out great if you know how to use it right and if your space is a fairly standard size and shape.
  • We haven't tried anything yet, but since we have hardly any shopping options locally, we've only been able to look at Home Depot. They did have some options there that weren't terrible, if you wanted to check it out. I don't know what the cost compares like though!

  • Our house is old and the closets are small and oddly shaped.  We went to the Container Store and loved what they had to offer but for the cost it was not worth it to us because a lot of what they had would not work in our space.  We then went to Lowes and created one using the Rubbermaid System.  It had the wire shelves like the container store system we were looking at and was a fraction of the cost.  The store was able to cut the items down to the size we needed.  It has worked great in DD's closet.

  • Thanks for the suggestions all!  We did end up going with Easy Closets - we got a free professional design and ordered Thursday afternoon.  They shipped out yesterday (free shipping - 780 lbs worth!) and will arrive at the end of next week (it looks like our shipping takes the longest because we live on the west coast).  We just finished removing all of the old wire shelving, spackling and painting theoset, so we're ready to go next weekend.  I'll post a review when all is said and done :)  If we like them, we'll probably do DH's closet too!

  • Bed Bath and Beyond has great systems from Real Simple if your budget allows. If not, The Container Store is great too. Youtube is great for organization ideas.
