Dr/Midwife/Hospital Recomendations

We are planning to move back to Omaha before our second DC baby is born, and I am looking into pregnancy/birth options.  The Dr. I had planned on seeing only delivers at Bergan, and we are planning on living in west Omaha, so I'm looking for other options.

I'm also curious what others experiences were at Bergan, in case we do decide to go that route.

Re: Dr/Midwife/Hospital Recomendations

  • I go to Dr Thomas Besse with Alegent. He is just wonderful and I know that my daughter is alive because of him. We delivered at Lakeside and LOVED it. The hospital was awesome and we have no complaints. I would also pick Lakeside's NICU over Methodist's Women's for personal reasons. I know many women here delivered at the new women's hospital at 192nd and dodge and say great things.

  • I see Dr. Thomas Martin at the Methodist Women's Hospital.  He is wonderful!  I just delivered at the Women's Hospital a couple weeks ago,and it was really nice.  I had a very quick delivery that did not go as planned, and was very impressed with how everything was handled, and my doctor's decisions through it all.
  • I delivered at Bergan and had a wonderful experience! I plan on going there for whenever we have #2. My doc happened to be out of town when I went into labor so I had the doc on call and he was very nice too!

  • I've had a kid at the new Women's Hospital and Immanuel.  The Women's hospital post partum nurses were great, Immanuels labor and delivery nurses were great.  Each had their benefits/downfalls.

I would go and tour a couple to see which one fits what you are looking for.  We were pretty impressed with the Women's hospital and how nice it was.  Immanuel was close to my dr/home and was remodeling when we delivered E.

  • The UNMC midwives are amazing.  We could not have asked for a better med-free birth experience.  A++++ is my book!

  • We live in Gretna but chose to deliver at Bergan anyway.  Our experience there was fantastic, not only for the delivery and post partum care, but I also spent time in and out of there during my pregnancy, and our daughter was in the NICU there for 11 days.  I can't speak highly enough about Bergan!

  • I delivered at Bergan almost 7 months ago and had a great experience. The L&D nurses were awesome about supporting me through a med-free delivery (even though I got an epi about an hour before DS was born that never fully kicked in).

I see Dr. Stephen Kruszka - his office is in the Bergan professional building. He's awesome!

  • I loved Methodist Women's for L&D, postpartum & NICU. Dr. Mark Carlson is fantastic.

  • I delivered at Methodist Women's (Dr. Carlson) 2 months ago and I loved it. The nurses took great care of me and my LO. I had a complication free pregnancy/delivery.
