I took a stand
Last night, after writing group, the friend I have issues with wanted to talk. She apologized for being a sucky friend and asked me to do a different writing project with her. I said no, pointed out how she never follows through with anything, and how I am feeling like it is a one-sided friendship. I told her that I am sick and tired of listening to her vent, giving her advice that she asks for, and then she never follows any of it. I like going to writing group with her bc she is my only writer friend, but otherwise I want to take a step back from the friendship. She seemed surprised and she was all "I look up to you bc you're so together, etc." Long story short, who knows where this friendship will end up, but I feel glad that I said my piece.

It can be so easy to just let it go when we really shouldn't. Nicely done!
That's great! You definitely shouldn't feel walked on or taken advantage of and how wonderful that you were able to express that to her calmly and firmly. Hopefully the friendship will continue but with better behavioral changes on her side of things!
May be this will get her in gear. I am proud of ya!
