Do you let your kids use your iPhone (iPad)?

I was wondering how many parents actually let their children use their iPhone (iPad), after I found this statistic about Moms letting their kids use their iPhone . I found the numbers rather high and was wondering if any of you lets their kids use their devices and if for what reason or purpose?

Of course I am not only asking iPhones/iPads users, since any other smartphone or tablet device does the same.

  • Yes, they're allowed to play with our iPhones. Approved apps only and not Internet. They can do photos and video also.

  • Yes they are 8, 6 and 4 and use our iPad and old iPhone 4 for games, Pandora, books and photos/videos.

  • I have a 2 year old and let her use my iPhone and iPad to play games, learning activites and read books (have them read to her).

DD does these same things on our iPhones and iPads.  She is 3 1/2.

  • My girls have their own iPods. We have them locked with the Safari app and iTunes app off. There is no way they can download anything or get on the internet at all. They are 5 and 3. The 18 month is allowed to touch the screen as that is all she can really do. This said, we are a very tech-y fam. My hubby and I both worked for Apple at one point.

  • Yup, I let my kids (ages 4 & 6) use my iPhone, our MacBook and their (shared) iPod to play games and educational apps.  They know that they are only allowed to use the apps on the 3rd screen of my phone (that's where I keep their apps) and only if I am sitting right next to them.  Their iPod and our laptop have password protections, so they can't download anything on their own or access the internet.
  • A lot of schools have iPads now, so it isn't surprising that parents are letting their kids use their iPhones and iPads. There are great apps for Kindergarten-aged kids and younger.

  • I originally didn't want to, but I do let my son play with our ipad.  He's 2.5, and we don't let him hold it.  We only let him play with it after dinner, and we'll play a game as a family. . . we're trying to get him to learn how to share- so me, husband, and son all take turns. Sometimes my husband will do a bedtime story for our son from one of the books on the ipad.

That being said, one of our techie friends took an old droid smartphone and stripped it down.  It only has puzzles, and learning games on it. It can't call or access the internet. . . it really only plays the 10 apps he put on there.
