So, I delayed a flight yesterday :/
I spent the weekend in Seattle visiting my biological father and my half sister. It was the first time we'd ever spent any real time together (that I remember anyway) and it was really awesome.
Anyway, I needed to be at work at 1220 yesterday. I tried to hop on the red eye the night before last and it filled up at the last possible minute. I called crew support and let them know that I would be on the 7a.m flight that put me in right at 12:20 and I'd call them on my way to the gate. I called again yesterday morning to say that I was on the flight. Then we sat on the runway for an hour! I almost had a heart attack, but there was nothing I could do at that point but sit there patiently. We arrived at 12:45 and I literally ran across the airport and avoided eye contact with every passenger standing at my gate. I made an announcement explaining what had happened after they boarded, I seriously felt so awful.
The weird part is, I haven't gotten in trouble yet. I don't know if it's because I stayed in contact the whole time, or if they just haven't punished me yet. I keep checking my work site for the nasty gram, but it hasn't popped up. Maybe I'm in the clear.
