Choosing a pediatrician and feeling overwhelmed...

I need to choose one ASAP because the girls are coming home in the next few weeks (cue the paralyzing fear!).  I have a list of recs from my OB, but I don't really know where to start.  Do most people do the whole interview process, or just pick one based on other peoples recommendations?  And if anyone has a rec for the Highlands Ranch area I would love it! TIA.

Re: Choosing a pediatrician and feeling overwhelmed...

  • I didn't interview any, and went off of a glowing recommendation from a trusted friend.  I've been very happy with our pedi so far, they are great with phone questions, have gotten us in same day and always answer all my questions.

We go to Greenwood Pediatrics at Yosemite and County Line (a little north on Yosemite).  We see Dr. Dan Feiten and love him, and his NP Clare.

  • I (and several others) go to Littleton Pediatrics and love them!  They are at County Line and Broadway.  No charges for after-hours calls to the nurse's line and they have a "no sick child goes unseen" policy.  I see Dr. Gin routinely but know others who see Dr. Kyriazi, Dr. Rosenbaum, Dr. Bublitz and Dr. Snelling there.  We've been happy with all the drs there.  Phone is 303.791.9999.

ETA:  I interviewed 2 groups -- 1 at Littleton Hospital that my OB/GYN recommended but I didn't like their charging $5 for each after-hours call to the nurse's line (dude, blend it in somewhere but don't make me think twice about calling about my kid's health).  Littleton Peds was the other one I interviewed.  Started off with Kyriazi but switched to Dr. Gin after 2 weeks because we clicked with him a lot more -- he is a super nice and easygoing guy!

  • My MIL works for a pedi in HR. We have taken DD1 to see him quite often. My husband also saw him growing. If we lived in Denver, we would totally go to him. Robert A Sachs MD 8010 South Holly Street Suite 200 Centennial, CO 80122 1-888-513-8038

  • I interviewed one based on recs from good friends. We go to Southeast Denver Pediatrics. They have an office down south off of Lincoln. A few of us on here go to them. I did the interview so I could see how comfortable I felt with the doctor - we primarily see Dr. Carlson or Dr. Miga. Thankfully I felt good so I just went with them and it helped that an old friend that I've known forever takes her kids there and that gave me piece of mind too.
  • I went for a free "pre baby" visit to the one closest to my house.  They seemed good, so that is who I went with.  I have been with them for a year and a half and have liked them.
  • We just picked one off a friend's recommendation.  I think it's important to remember that you can change your mind later on if you don't like the pedi.  I know it's easier with some insurance companies to do it than with others (with Kaiser, which we have, it's so easy), but it helps take a bit of the pressure off the decision.

  • I picked all my baby-related healthcare from Nestie recs, no interviews or visits......  My pediatrician was recommended by KT1025 -- we see Dr. Marc at Greenwood Pediatrics in Parker but have also seen the Centennial office quite a few times.  They are great.

  • Littleton Pediatrics is where we go. They have a HR location, we go to the Ken Caryl office but the docs are great at both.

  • I don't know where you live, but I'm happy people are recommending Greenwood Peds for 2 reasons. 1. I've heard great things about them. 2. I have a month long rotation there sometime after June 1st as a sort of PA residency. :)

hope all is well. you're a rockstar!

  • We go to 5280 Pediatrics.  Dr. Wallendahl.  Been really happy with them.  They get us in and out quick which is a bonus.  Also when DD has been sick it isn't an issue to get her in right away.  Oh and they also don't hassle me about selective vaccination.

Ditto, except I know Dr. Dan personally so it was no question for us!  His son went to school with my 15 yr old DD from K through 8 grade.

  • Another 5280 Peds mom, here.   We have seen Dr. Bosley since N was 3 days old and love him.  I've also had good experiences with all of their docs, with the exception of Dr. Tschetter, but he's very easy to avoid, except if he's on call when you have an after hours question.

    Same here.
    Love her!
