What do you pay your babysitter?

I feel like I wing it each time.  Depending on kids moods, and if they are sleeping etc.

I had one for 3 hours today so I could go to a meeting and paid her $45 ($15 an hour).  I do have 2 kids but J slept for 2 of the hours, waking up just before I got home.  And she drives 35 minutes to get to my house, so its not local.

i have never had a sitter... only family, and on one occasion, a friend...

but, I'd like to know this info too because there will come a day Im sure when I do need to pay somone

I think it depends upon where you live and number of kids, etc. 

Our babysitter that watches DD when my mom doesn't decided on a flat rate per day.  When DH's neice has watched DD, we've paid her $10/hour. 

I have looked and would suggest looking at care.com as that will give you the range of rates people in your area are asking for.

aside from family, we only have one babysitter.  she is in her mid-twenties, also works at our gym daycare and is an emt.  we wing it somewhat too- depends on how long we are gone, day of week, total number hours, if sue is sleeping.  but it's always between $15-18 an hour.  honestly i'd like to pay her less, but she is in high demand which i why i dont mind paying her well- so she will keep wanting to come.  and she gets a gift at christmas.

Our old neighbor who is a junior in high school babysits for us. I usually pay her $10/hr. Brit is always here to help her out and the kids are usually asleep when we're out.

When I babysit I charge between $12 and $14 an hour (depending on how far I have to drive).  I have a different rate for overnights.

I watch 3 kids every monday and get paid $18 an hour. They're in Brewster and I come from Fishkill so I'm driving about 30 minutes each way.

That sounds about right.  I watch one child and was making $15 but when her hours were cut, she upped it to $20.  Good thing since baby #2 is due June 1st
