A week with my son and my father sends me...

My dad was here for a week and a half at Christmas. He spent most of his time here with me & Wyatt since we were both off the whole week. I just got in the mail:

Raising Your Spirited Child: A guide for parents whose child is more intense, sensitive, perceptive, persistent, and energetic.

  • LOL...I have no idea!

When he called to tell me it was coming I was a little offended honestly. Then he told me that he was just like his mother and that he wished he had the book when I was little.

    Wow, thanks Dad.

  • i have that book and love that book, to be honest. i do have a "spirited child" and having read that book when he was very young has totally influenced how we parent in all positive ways and lead to such awesome times with a 2-3-4 year old. to be honest, there's nothing to be offended about. my spirited child is pretty much the bomb - it just took me learning how to embrace his spirit in the most effective ways.

  • I get why you would be offended but maybe try to have an open mind. I have read a few excerpts from the book and have heard great things about it. I recommended it to my coworker. She cried the whole time....she finally felt like she wasn't alone.  If it turns out that it really doesn't describe W then at the very least you learned something and maybe can share it with someone who needs it.
