I was out in the backyard just calling and calling, hoping he would hear me and he just showed up out of nowhere (we think he might have been in the junk yard of the mean neighbor's yard hiding out). Why he didn't come the other million times we were right there, even in the neighbor's yard, calling him, I'll never know. He was dirty and wet, but otherwise fine. He and Dexter just gave each other's baths and all is well here.
David is home and sleeping, he hasn't talked about any of the calls yet but it was a busy and stressful day. Every time I called him the conversation was "Are you okay? Have you found Thad? okay I have to go love you bye." I know of at least one fatality, and two more that I suspect ended up as fatalities.
So far we have power, and have all afternoon/evening. I don't expect it to go out again, but you never know. None of our trees are down, but we have lost big limbs and half of my 12+ foot butterfly bush snapped off
Our only property damage is a section of the fence is blown off (so our yard is not secured) and the big gate to our carport is broken. First it was just the latch, but now the hinges are busted as well. It's secure enough that I'm not worried about it flying off and hitting anything.
Wind is back down to a more "manageable" 50 MPH. We were at gusts to 80 MPH in town, and up to 110 MPH on the beaches and headlands - aka "hurricane strength."
Thank you for all the vibes, thoughts and prayers. So glad the worst should be over. xoxo
Re: THADDEUS IS HOME!
So happy he is home! I went through all that stress when our cat ran off back in October. Gone for 5 weeks, but he came back, thankfully! I'm glad Thad came home safely for you guys!
Hope your weather gets better soon!
