I've been blonde for years and went dark this fall. I love it but hate that the all over color is more pricey than my highlights were. I'm planning to DIY. Is there a brand I Should shop for? Any tips? Seems silly but I've never done this before
Re: Box hair dye?
Katie Talks About...
I totally agree with you, all over color is outrageous! I've been colouring my hair for years and really would prefer to have someone else do it, but I almost died from sticker shock when I asked my hair lady about it.
Anyway... I prefer the less chemically brands (the ones they carry at Whole Foods/Vitamin Cottage) - especially Tints of Nature, it's awesome! Admittedly though, in a pinch - I'm loving the new foam hair color (using the one by John Frieda). I know it's full of nasty chemicals, but it's so easy to apply - being a single lady I don't always have someone who can check my hair for missed spots.
silly.goose - I cannot believe you color your hair. It looks amazing and so natural. What color do you use from them?
I'm trying to stop highlighting my hair, but every time my stylist talks me into it....
Ditto!
Oh my ~ thanks for the compliment ladies! Sadly I have to dye it - I have quite a bit of grey otherwise. It's really dark right now (which I like for winter), but I usually use the chocolate brown or natural medium or dark browns. The tints of nature does wash out faster than other hair colors, but it also isn't going to go all wonky on you if you have other product remnants in your hair.
I see Candace LeClaire at the Parlour -- I love her, she's adorable and fun to talk to.
