Key West

I posted this in Travel as well, but I know many of you have stayed in Key West. What I'm looking for is a hotel, motel, guest house to stay in. My friend and I are going for her 30th in April. Any suggestions would be great!

  • I stayed at an awesome place in Key West a few years ago - Sunset Key, its a little private island off KW - I think its a Hilton property.  Its nice, but pricey!!

  • I'm jealous too. I love Key West! We've stayed at the Knowles House a few times and really liked it. Both times we had different poolside rooms on the 1st floor. It's not a full size pool though - just a splash pool - but I doubt you'll spend much time in KW sitting in the pool. From our experience they were much more reasonably priced than places really close to Duvall St.. It's not very far from Duvall St. though and the owners go out of your way to help you book attractions.

For things to do, I would check out a drag show at La Te Da (they have a dinner package as well), go to Hemingway's house and Truman's house, rent jet skis, go to the pirate museum, have breakfast at Blue Heaven and just wander around and drink.

  • Hubby and I went to Key West in December 2010 for a friends wedding and we rented through this place. We actually rented the Abaco Suite. It was perfect for us, but we didn't really spend as much time as you would think there.

  • We were there last February for a friend's wedding and stayed here: http://www.laconchakeywest.com/   The hotel was a little pricey, but the location was amazing.
  • We stayed at the Wicker Guesthouse. It's right on Duval St. They also had a nice continental breakfast. I wish we had done a drag show, but we were so pooped after dinner that we ended up crashing. We didn't eat until 9ish, though. We really enjoyed a sunset dinner cruise and the Southernmost Cafe on the Beach. Have fun!
