XP Food processor recs please

I also posted this on WC, but thought I would ask my trusted A10 girls also.

If you have a food processor that you like, can you please share your recommendation?  I am in the market to get one but can't decide which one.

TIA

Anniversary

I have that one. I got it when we had our wedding shower and I LOVE it. Its easy to use and its basically the same one my mom's had for a million years. I use it for lots of things including pureeing frozen fruit (to make sorbet) I just find it generally helpful all around.

Also DH REALLY wants the magic bullet and I told him if we had a baby we could get one. So far no luck on the baby....stupid daycare. But he was tempted! I mostly love the magic bullet commercial.

We have a magic bullet and I hate it.  DH wanted it to make milkshakes (of all things) and now we hardly use it.  I've tried using it for something before and it's a PITA if you ask me.

  • Let me start by saying I did a BUNCH of research before I put these on my registry, and got very good reviews from people. I highly recommend whatever you think of getting, look on amazon.com to see the reviews people post to at least be aware of any potential issues which can help you weigh out whether to get it or not.

We got this one for our wedding from BFF/MOH and her family http://www.amazon.com/Kitchenaid-KFP750ER-Food-Processor-Empire/dp/B000F4UMTA

For small things I love our immersion blender (this is the newer version apparently, they don't have the exact color/exterior design as mine) http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?brn=1&SKU=133649

This is what mine looks like but it came with all the accessories of the previous one http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KHB100ER-Hand-Blender-Empire/dp/B00008GSA5/ref=sr_1_3?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1327015360&sr=1-3

I have to say I LOVE the small chopper that comes with the immersion blender b/c it's like that magic bullet- small and low maintenance, no need to pull out the big food processor for small jobs. I use it for making bread crumbs. The blender is great for doing individual smoothies.

  • I have a 9-cup Kitchen Aid processor and I absolutely LOVE it. I do so much with it, making pizza dough, biscuits, dips, grating cheese, anything you can think of. It sits right next to my mixer.

If you plan on using it a lot and tend to make a lot of stuff at once I would get the 12-cup. If/when my food processor dies I will replace it with the 12 cup

  • I got the Ninja as a gag gift.  I LOVE IT!  It is SOOOOOOO much easier to clean then my blender and it blends with one thing and food processes with another.  All you do is put the ninja on top and it does it for you.
  • I just had to go check because I forgot what brand mine is! It's a Cuisinart. I honestly don't use it that often, but I have no complaints.

Holly, I used to have the combo blender/processor one from Cuisinart since I thought it would be great for the small apartment I was in at the time. I honestly wouldn't recommend it. The processor was much smaller than a stand-alone one and everytime I used it I had to do multiple batches. The blender never worked that great - I had to blend things for a long time. It died after only like 2 years and I replaced it with my current processor and seperate blender which work much better. Of course this was about 5 years ago so it's possible the newer models are better. You might want to take a look at reviews before getting one.

  • I have the Cuisinart (big one - not sure how many cups), and every time I have used it I loved it.

I also have the magic bullet. I use that almost every day to make my slimfast shakes for breakfast (where you get the powder and mix it with milk). I occasionally use it for other things, but not too much. Still, I love having it.

  • LOL @ Breanne - you are in quite the sarcastic mood today!  Too funny :)

I think I have the same one Lori is talking about.  It's the Cuisinart duo - one base and you can swap the blender and food processor as needed.  I love it because it's powerful and I don't have to store separate appliances.  It's easy to take apart and everything.  But the food processor bowl is very small.  It works for me, but think about what you are going to use it for, and what size might work for you.
