Swinsto- re: dump chicken

Do you think your dump chicken recipes would work in a crockpot?  Just curious.

Re: Swinsto- re: dump chicken

  • I was wondering this too...
  • I know I'm not swinsto, but I think they can definitely be put in the crockpot.  If you're using chicken breast I would set your crock pot for 2-4 hours on high or 5-6 on low.  if you're using thighs they can cook for longer since they're fattier.  Dump recipes are great for crock pots!
  • What am I doing wrong when I cook chicken in the crock pot?  The only time it was okay was when I made salsa chicken and shredded the chicken.  The other times it turns out dry yet mushy.  (I'm using skinless/boneless breast which might be part of the problem.)
  • I'm the WORST crockpot cooker ever, so I would trust daisies opinion over mine :). But yes, I think they would work!

  • in the summer i really only cook in my crock so i don't have to turn on the oven.  i pretty cook whatever i would make in the oven in the crock pot instead and just adjust cooking times.  chicken breasts cook pretty fast and they're really lean so they really only need a couple hours on high...i'm home all afternoon so it's easy for me to throw something in at 2-ish  and have it ready for dinner at 5.  rump roasts are lean so they can dry out fast. chuck roasts are great for the crockpot and can simmer all day along with chicken thighs and legs.  so all of those dump chicken recipes i would totally throw in the crock pot only for a couple hours.
