Dieting Sucks

It's no wonder people are unsuccessful. According to My Fitness Pal I get 1310 calories a day. When I work out it takes that into account and I get more, but holy hell this has been so hard to stick to. I'm hungry. When I'm at work it's that much worse since I work a pretty physical job and the hours are long. I kind of obsess about food when I counting calories too, which makes it that much harder. I probably need a different way to go about this, but counting calories is what is free. I'm just really frustrated. Being a healthy weight shouldn't be so difficult, but I should know better considering it's been an issue my entire freaking life.

Re: Dieting Sucks

  • Given your work, it seems like you should have more as a base.  If you're starving, that's not a good sign.
  • I only work 2 days a week, 3 at most so it doesn't impact things that much really. Other than that, walking around campus 2 days a week, and now trying to do a yoga or pilates dvd a couple times a week, I'm not very active at all. Plus, I'm 5 feet nothing so the number makes sense to me. I guess I'm just so used to overeating that getting over that is tough.

  • What are you eating? Eating foods high in protein and veggies that are high in fiber will really help fill you up more and keep you more satisfied.
  • Every time I start watching how much I'm eating and eating better, I'm always starving for about a week to 10 days.  I figure my stomach needs to shrink down to a normal size because I'm over-eatting.  Hopefully it will get better.

  • Dieting does suck, that's for sure.  I think the only way to manage with so few calories is to eat tons of veggies.  You can also do more volume eating--brothy soup before dinner to help fill you up.  I also always found that drinking hot tea made me less hungry when I wanted a snack during a day.  Or an apple.  Hang in!
