My house is a disaster.
When I moved in with DH, he owned this house. He bought it before me, so I had* no say in it. I would never have bought it. It's too small, it needed total renovations, and it's old and a PITA. However, we've renovated almost the entire thing. It will be a cute little house once we're done.
DH took off the last three days of this week to renovate the bedroom. Flooring coming out, paneling on the walls coming down, drywall, paint, new floor, everything. Great.
But have I mentioned this house is tiny? So I currently have crap from the bedroom in the living room dressers in the dining room, a chair in the kitchen--basically my entire house is useless. I can't even get to my stove to cook, we've been living on pizza for two days. I feel like crap, my OCD tendencies are making me a basket case because I just can't stand things out of place, it's messed up my homework routine. AND there are some kittens that I really want to foster, but there's NO WHERE TO PUT THEM. I swear to God, if the room isn't finished by Monday, the kittens can sleep in bed with me, and DH can sleep in the unfinished bedroom. I told him just to hire someone.
End vent.
On the plus side, I couldn't study here (too noisy), so I went elsewhere and had a ridiculously productive day. 15 page paper and a 20 minute presentation--done!

Re: NPR-I am going to lose it...
We still rent so I've never had to do it personally (yet), but I've heard that renovations can be very tough on a marriage!
I hope that everything is wrapped up quickly so that you can get your life back!
5 cats. 1 baby.
Yikes! I totally know how you feel. It's DH, myself, and the dog in a little over 600 sq ft. No lie, there have been several occasions when I've seriously thought of telling DH that I'm getting my own apartment because I just can't handle the messes.
He also never makes the bed and 9/10 times he's still in bed when I leave so I can't make it. I don't understand how he doesn't understand how much nicer it is to get into a made bed. So I make the bed at like 6pm when I get home.
I feel ya! Our condo was supposed to be a "starter home," but seven years, two dogs and a baby later and we're still here with no chances of moving anytime in the foreseeable future. DS is in a stage where his favorite passtime is unpacking stuff and throwing it on the floor--bookcases, cabinets, closets, you name it!--it looks like our house was ransacked by burglars all the time, and I can barely walk through the house without tripping.
((hugs)) and on the plus side, it's Friday!!!!

Tobio: Yeah, this is a "starter house" too. lol We've been here six years and I can't take it anymore. We're going to put it on the market this spring and see what happens.
Thanks all, for letting me vent. And for not calling me crazy when I said I was going to trade the husband in for stray kittens. lol

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DIt was supposed to be done by Sunday evening. Now it's looking like it's going to take at least until Wednesday. So not really long enough to justify a storage unit. But believe me, I considered it. lol
