why do diets always = craving everything bad?
can i be hypnotized to crave lettuce instead chocolate cake? this is why i fail every time. i try to eat right, i get to about 2 pm and then shat hits the fan and i want to shove fatty goodness in my mouth. cake, cookies, anything other than healthy food. i just ate four large marshmallows because i **needed** to. what the heck is wrong with me.

Re: why do diets always = craving everything bad?
bc you're not giving your body something it needs...and i don't mean chocolate...but that you aren't giving your body enough of other healthy items...i have to be honest, i have been doing ww for the past few weeks and religiously making sure i meet my healty guidelines every day, and i am finding that i am not craving for anything inspite of being sick and very stressed at work...
i know it's all in my head. my breakfast was non-fat plain greek yogurt with a 1/2 cup of raspberries mixed in, a cup of coffee with 1 tblsp of french vanilla creamer. 10 baby cut carrots was my morning snack. lunch was 1 packet of apple cinnamon oatmeal (made with water) a hard boiled egg - nothing added, and another coffee. and then i **had** to have those marshmallows an hour after lunch. i've also had 4 glasses of water. and those marshmallows were better than what i really wanted which is an entire batch of brownies. or chocolate mousse.

He was on the Today show this a.m as well.. There's a direct link between not sleeping enough and craving carbs. Maybe you're not getting quality sleep?
LOL! i haven't gotten quality sleep in almost 5 years. but i'm working on it. i have restless leg syndrome which wakes me up, plus you know.. 3 kids...and a husband who snores loud enough to shake the roof.

I've found that I've had to make little adjustments--a little at a time. I'm going to trip up and I'm also going to decide that a piece of chocolate cake (or in my case last week, bread pudding) is well worth it. I couldn't go from eating like I was to eating perfectly on a "diet" the next week. I'm all about the gradual changes that I can live with. I'm on WW, too...since Sept. I average about a half a pound a week loss (and some weeks I've gone up), but I think it's because my activity level is pretty low and that I do let myself have some sweets. I don't deprive myself of everything--if I did there's no way that I could make a lifestyle change. When I'm hungry, I try to supplement with other things like fruit to see if I'm satisfied before going after what I'm really craving. Or--if I'm still craving it, I try to work in a little extra activity or eat other healthier things to make up for it (more veggies/fruits than carbs).
To me, diets do equal craving something bad because to me diet=deprivation. I'm all about the "life style change".
