A manager here from a different department (his team shares the other downstairs section of the office with us) played a funny prank on my boss. He hid one of those musical beeping cards in her office to drive her nuts with the noise. He did it while she was at a meeting upstairs. He came and told me and my 2 other coworkers what he was doing before he did it. None of us argued it. Boss is a somewhat of an uptight person so he said he knew it would drive her bonkers. Well she gets back and we overhear her freaking out about the noise. She calls me (even though she's right next door) and says she needs my help with something and please come over right away (which is something I always get asked every hour all day everyday). So I wander over keeping a straight face and ask her what she needs. She then says, very seriously "What IS that NOISE? Can you find out where it is coming from and make it STOP?" Still keeping a straight face I told her I had no idea what she was talking about.
She then goes next door to my other coworker (who I really thought was her favorite) and accuses her of planting the beeping card. Hilarity ensues as she too pretends she doesn't know what is going on. The other coworker also goes along with it when questioned. (yet I was not accused). The manager who did it overheard the whole thing and then comes forward and owns up. She then has some choice words for him, and finally finds the card and gets rid of it (herself, without my "help").
It was pretty funny that just like everything else that happens around here that my help is summoned immediately...and the same goes for this situation. Hahahahaha! Hopefully we will all still have our jobs Monday.
Re: Can't stop laughing about the prank someone played on my boss!
we did somethign similar to my boss years ago... we put the speaker part of the "fart machine" in his office, hidden inside a big football helmet he had on a shelf (as decoration)... we used the remote to make it go off every now and then, but not enough that he could ever locate the sound.
He kept calling us in saying "do you hear that? are there ducks on the balcony?"... we'd say "maybe it's the snow sliding off the roof?"... and he'd go nut saying "no - it sounds like ducks, but i don't see any... what IS that!?"... finally we kept making the sound so he could find it - and he was so mad at us- but laughed it off
hahaha! I don't work there. I work in HR at a non-profit. My boss is the HR director which makes it more hilarious!

I saw Piscataway and thought it was too much of a coincidence! Regardless, it's a great prank
