Well, the interview certainly could have been better. The traffic on the 405 was atrocious! In addition to it's usual crappiness they are doing construction. The women interviewing me said they had heard about that. I told them, I left an hour before the interview and I was still 20 mins late! It should have only taken 20 mins to get there. So I left more than double the time early (which is standard practice to account for freeway traffic here). On the way home it did only take 20 mins, of course. I almost left 30 mins earlier than I did and I should have but I was sluggish from being sick. Then the parking once I got there was tricky. The position would be FT for 2 periods of Econ, 2 of U.S. history (both of which I've taught before) and one of Freshman Seminar health/life skills. It would be weird to try to teach Health. The Freshman Seminar would be 0 period so it would start at 7:15 and then I would be done earlier in the day, not have a last period. Their 1st semester ends this week so it would be to start in about a week.
They seemed to like my role play. And I think I did okay with the questions. They actually asked about my lay off, which is the first time anyone has in any interview I've done. They said they appreciated my honesty about it. They even asked about what support (or lack thereof) I had where I taught in the Bay Area, including BTSA. So I told them about that lovely experience. They asked more about planning than class mgt. I think I did fine answering about that and they looked at my portfolio. My voice sounded terrible but I didn't mention being sick because I had already apologized about being late. It was three administrators, 1 principal and 2 VPs. They were pretty nice and they were pretty good about playing along with the role play. I wasn't sure if they would act out like problem students or what. They did pretend to not know much about the terms like students would. If I'd had more time to prepare and I wasn't sick, doing the role play could have actually been fun. I even wore a nametag that said Velma, like a Woolworth's employee in 1960 North Carolina, to demonstrate that I wasn't me in the role play. And I brought a plastic cup to pretend to pour a milkshake on the "student" sit in protester's head. So anyway, we'll see. I can never tell anymore whether it will turn out well or not. I'm competing against hundreds of applicants for each position I apply to down here. Now it's time to let my sick body crash.
Re: F/U on FT Job Interview
Sounds like it went well! Hopefully they will understand the traffic issue and overlook the lateness. It sounds like you did a great job with the role play. Good luck, H! I am thinking positive job vibes for you!
Also, feel better soon!

Traffic ALWAYS gets me when it comes to interviews. I've only ever been significantly (15 minutes) late to one interview, but they understood and I actually ended up getting the job, so FRET NOT!
I hope you get the job! Good luck!

IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
Congrats on getting through that--it sounds like you did pretty well! Which is no small feat considering I'm sure you were feeling flustered from being late. Don't you hate when you do everything possible to try to prevent issues like that from coming up and yet they happen anyway? Grrrr!
Keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope you feel better soon!
