ok...first stomach virus...what do I do???
Grace has been throwing up for about 2 hours, the bulk of it the first time before I got home from work, but H said it was a lot. I gave her some toast and that came up almost right away so obviously I guess I don't try to feed her right now? She's been throwing up small amounts of liquid, about 3 times, 15-20 minutes apart.
What do I do? I honestly have no clue. She's sleeping on her little couch bed right now in the living room where for now I plan on staying down here for the night. Do I not give her anything? Wait for a certain amount of time she hasn't thrown up for? So glad I'm off this weekend so I can just spend time w/ her

Re: ok...first stomach virus...what do I do???
Do not feed or give liquids for at least 12 hours if she is vomiting everything.
After 12 hours try her with a lollipop - the best we have used at the Charm pops - I bet they have some Valentines ones out now.
After that Ice chips - an hour later.
Then a small sip of water - an hour later.
The introduce food using the BRAT Diet:
Bananas
Rice
Applesauce
Toast
If you give her liquids or anything too early it will keep the virus alive and make her sickness last longer. It is hard to watch them ask for liquids but do not cave in it is for the best.
Our doc had us give pedialyte but only 1oz at a time to keep him hydrated. give the ped a call for an opinion but hydration is key. I can't imagine my doc telling me to go 12 hours without giving liquids.
no diary.
Other than that, pray that you don't get it.
awe, poor thing! They are THE WORST. In so many ways.
Just keep trying to get a LITTLE bit of water/juice into her to keep her hydrated... but avoid dairy. If she is keeping stuff down tomorrow do BRAT - bananas rice applesauce (though some don't do this) and toast... we also do crackers.
Gray was just puking the other day. We lay tons of blankets and towels on the couch and I sit up with him all night (try to sleep, but rarely do) and keep a bucket nearby to TRY and catch the puke... ugh. It's just so miserable.
i hope she's better in the am and it's passing quickly!
