dental insurance is such BS

Seriously. I had to go to an oral surgeon. I called and they said my procedure was covered 100%. Awesome. My dentist already told me it was something I'd need the surgeon to do.  He referred me there. So I make my appt, we talk about it for 2 minutes, he does it, I'm on my way out the door. I just got my EOB and, although they COVER the consultation of $90 at 100%, they're denying it because it was done on the same day as the procedure. WTF? so... they'd have paid it if i had DH take TWO mornings off work so i could drive 30 minutes there, talk to him for 2 minutes, drive 30 minutes back, then drive back out the next day to actually have it done? That's INSANE. Uhg. It just seems so wrong and deceitful. Of course my deductible is applied to what they did pay instead of what they're denying me on a technicality.

  • Definitely appeal and keep fighting. I had a friend in HR and she said that many times if you keep pushing the insurance will give in.

THIS is very true. But for the most part, dental insurance isn't that great. It's more for maintenance and less about paying when bad things happen.
