Direct TV in the winter?? Since its slow here figured I'd ask.
I have read that when trees come in with leaves, the placement of the sattelite could be off with interference etc. and maybe not the best signal strength.
WE have been holding off because Verizon keeps saying FIOS is coming to our area...um 4 years now.. They are doing construction on 206 Stanhope/Byram near our house and state they have put Fiberoptic lines in now. The latest update was to be Fall 2011. Well didnt happen. Construction should be finished in 8 months now per our local paper.
We can only have Service Electric and pay $72 a month just for cable!! I feel ripped off each month when we pay this! We have to get real about our budget this year and can't afford this! However when I always get ready to switch I read scary reviews about how this Direct TV customer service is etc....
Anyway, would you wait for FIOS? Would you wait til Spring when leaves come in? Or would you just do it now and hope for best? or would you stay with Service Electric and see if you c ould get a bundle deal of some sort?
TIA!!
Re: Do you think its dumb to get
My dad lived in that area and they have been saying Fios was coming to the area since I can remember.
We have had direct TV since June and we love it. We are in Dingmans Ferry so we have a TON of trees and we have no issues. I have called them several times with questions and have had wonderful service. We have never called them with a service problem however becasue we have never had one. we have the triple play package and I pay $75 for all of that with 3 boxes and a sports package. If you are going to go with Direct TV let me know and I will give you the code they gave me and then we will both get $100 credit.
We are now switching to Service Electric for everything. I will have internet, phone, and cable for $109 a month for 6 months then it goes up a little thereafter with no contract. Even with a great rate on phone and internet through Century Link, its still cheaper to go through SEC for everything. Hope that helps.
Good to know. How come you tried Century Link instead of Direct Tv? Just curious. Yea I was gonna call Service Electric too,but MH said to be careful about the speed of the internet. I think he looked at their packages awhile back and there was something about with the speed and additional charges etc. Just double check. I just hate that we pay $72 for hardly any special channels at all with no other deals. The only positive is that it never goes out! knock on wood!
@Tara- I will have my husband check again just to explore. Maybe they will lower and give a good bundle!
@Saphire, I will let you know if we decide to do it!
@Deb-where are you located? are you near me? tia
