Ugh! Is your little kid a hoarder like my kid??

My son is a hoarder and will definitely end up on a reality TV show if I don't intervene! LOL!!! We're stuck in the house with a mini man cold and are making an animal book. My mother just bought him 2 new boxes of crayons, bringing his total crayon collection to at least 6 boxes (4 brand new), along with probably 100 colored pencils, markers, etc.

He has this busted up set of crayons from playskool...seriously junky and worn down and I said to him, " Look at all these new crayons we have." Why don't you let me bring this box to school because my kids don't have alot of crayons."

His reply, "MOM! Uncle Frank and Aunt Peggy gave me those crayons! How am I going to remember them if we give them away??"

"What about pictures? Memories in your head and your heart. We see them all the time (and they always buy you stuff much better than these crayons I'm thinking). You don't need to save broken crayons to remember them by."

His eyes well up with tears. So the crayons are back in the art box...I guess they'll have to go "missing" like the rest of the broken/old/unplayed with stuff after he goes to bed tonight.

I find it funny because I'm so NOT a hoarder and donate/throw away everything. My husband is somewhere in the middle.

DO you have a hoarder or are you the hoarder of the house??

Re: Ugh! Is your little kid a hoarder like my kid??

  • yes!! my middle guy is like that.  he has "treasure boxes" filled with stuff. if something is missing in the house we look in his room. he has a toddler fire engine bed that he has not slept in for at least 7-8 months, but everytime i talk about giving it to a  little boy to enjoy he cries and begs me not to get rid of it. .....
  • What about making a craft out of it.... that way he gets "new crayons" and it makes it fun for him and he can will know its still his treasured crayons.
