Hi! I think this is my first time posting on G&T. : ) We have one iTunes account that we have had for several years on one computer....we recently got two laptops, so every time I want to update my iPod, I have to use his laptop. Additionally, DH has also put a ton of his own music on the library and every time I update, I have to uncheck all of his songs and it takes FOREVER.
I read a bit about Home Sharing and moving iTunes files. I am not sure what to do? Ideally, I'd like to move my songs/movies to my laptop....but I'm not sure of the best way to do this. We do have an external hard drive....can I copy all iTunes to that, then copy them to my new laptop/iTunes, then delete what I don't want?
With home sharing, will whatever I check/uncheck stay checked/unchecked on my own laptop?
So confusing!! I don't want to start over and I have TV shows/movies etc. that I have purchased and don't want to repurchase just to move them to my laptop's iTunes.
Any advice would be MUCH appreciate.
TIA
renee
Re: question about iTunes accounts--mine/DH's
You could create your own playlist on his iTunes account and put in whatever music you want and sync only that playlist to your iPod.
Not sure about moving music files. If you set up iTunes on your laptop and use the same apple ID, you can re-download all the shows/movies without paying again.
On the new computer add iTunes. You can then join a home sharing network with the old computer. When you look at the old computer on the new computer you can have it show all music/files not one your computer. Then you highlight them all and hit import. After there is a setting to automatically download anything bought on iTunes. Be sure to authorize the new computer with the old same iTunes account first.
To get your playlists. Export them in the old computer. Send th via email or any other method to the new computer. Then import them in iTunes in the new computer.
