how afraid should I be?
I had my 6 week appt yesterday and Dr said I healed "beautifully" from my 2nd degree tear and cleared me for exercise and sex but I'm still a little nervous!
Re: post partum sex
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.

It obviously wasn't too bad after having Gavin or else there wouldn't be a Hudson!
Have some wine, a lot of lube and no expectations. It may not be mind blowing but it'll get back to normal.
It wasn't fun, not going to lie. I think it took about 3 times to get back in the saddle. Go slow, listen to your body and try to relax, the anticipation was worse than it actually was.

Remember too that if you're BF'ing your hormones are gonna be outta whack with elevated prolactin and decreased estrogen. For me that meant BF'ing = dry as a bone. Lube became my best friend but I didn't really get back to normal in the bed room until I weaned.
GL!!
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
I had a c-section, so no tearing, but breastfeeding did and continues to do a number on my body. Lube is my best friend - otherwise it still hurts. It's getting better, but I don't expect it to be 100% until I wean, which doesn't seem likely any time soon.
On the plus side, other then the dryness issue, sex itself is way, way better!
No more baby siggie pics. Boo.
I cried until 20 week PP....but I also had an episiotomy that didn't heal for 13 weeks.
Don't rush it. That's my advice. Super slow.
Wrangling babies since 2010
Honestly, with DS I'd had a 2nd degree tear and everything. I never had any pain during sex (we waited 8 weeks, I think). I was pretty dry though, so use lots of lube and any other aids you might think you need. If you are nervous, have a glass of wine before you dtd. :-)
With DD and no tears at all, I was still bleeding til 9 weeks PP, but sex was WONDERFUL the first time we did it.
