What is it with the media today?

Apparently Seal & Heidi have not split yet. This and the AP mistakenly reporting that Joe Paterno was dead.  Really media?  I know it's an age of instant reporting and gratification but would it kill ya to make sure you're right about something before publishing it?

Todd came out of the bedroom while I was watching some dvr'ed "keri shows" and told me Joe Paterno wouldn't survive the weekend. I had to ask when exactly God had let him know this... nobody knows how much time on this earth someone has, and I loathe those kind of statements.

Well, at least one of those stories is accurate now.  RIP JoePa.

I am really sorry but I think this comment is beyond rude.  I sat on it for a long time, but I just decided it needed to be called out.  I could completely understand if this was Sandusky who passed and you made this comment.  Should Paterno have done more, probably.  Did he admit that, yes.  At the time, did he do what he thought he had to, yes.  I am sure I will be blasted for this but I thought it needed to be said.

Does the fact that he did not follow up change all the good that he did at Penn State?  I do not think so.  Again, if this was Sandusky, then yes, but it is not.  He donated millions of dollars to the school.  The football program is first and foremost a group of STUDENT athletes, not many NCAA football programs can say that.  Yes I agree he should have followed up but I do not think that erases the positive contributions he has made.

His inaction erased everything good he did in my mind. We obviously don't agree. His inaction led to more boys being molested and more lives being ruined. I don't care what wonderful things you do in your life - if you make a huge mistake like that that causes others pain and suffering for the rest of their lives, then yes, in my mind that erases the good.

DH works for a sports talk radio station and his boss sent out a mass text saying that he had passed before it actually happened.  The station was flooding with angry texts immediately following.  This guy has a history of doing silly things like that though...  we'll see if there are ramifications today, I suppose.

That is fine that you feel the good was erased, but it is still very rude to say what you did.  I guess since I am married to someone that is a result of a lot of the good; I cannot completely erase it.  I know a lot of who my husband is has to do with a portion of Paterno's legacy.  Again, I am not saying Paterno is a god.  I am not saying he did nothing wrong.  I agree I feel horrible for the families and kids that were robbed of their childhood.

And now, apparently, both stories are true. I expected JoePa would pass in the next few weeks but was hoping Seal & Heidi would pull through.  So much for the retraction stories saying they were committed to working.
