I need help with my cats.
We have a cat box for each of our cats. They are cleaned out, they are in a private area of the house so it's not like they are being interrupted while using the boxes. However, two of my cats (both males) have resorted to peeing in corners of the house, or near walls, and I don't understand why.
1. How do I keep them from peeing anywhere but in their boxes?
2. What can I use to remove the smell so they don't want to repeatedly pee in those spots?
Thank you for any help you can give me!
Re: I need help with my cats.
Are they neutered? Have you had them to the vet to rule out medical conditions? Our one male started peeing inappropriately because had bladder crystals, and then later because he has Feline Interstitial Cystitis. Not behavioral, but rather medical.
Read the FAQ on the first page of this board...it's filled with information about what to do in this situation.

I have two male cats also and had a small problem when we moved. When we lived in an apartment they were fine with sharing on box (that's all we had room for). When we moved into our house we got super excited that we could have it in the basement and out of the way. One cat was fine with it...the other we discovered was peeing in the empty spare room.
Here are some questions for you to consider: Has there been any recent changes (even minor) in the cats' living environment? (sometimes the holiday commotion can get to them, you went away for a vacation, too many strange people around, etc).
Is there any strange noises or smells near the boxes? We discovered my cat was terrified of the furnace at first so we had to keep a box away from it for a while and show him it was okay to go downstairs.
And as the previous comment asked: anything medical? Have you noticed them drinking a lot? If so, especially in older cats, they may have developed a medical issue like diabetes.
As for the smell, it depends if it's on carpet or hardwood floors. Unless someone else has a suggestion, carpet is pretty much impossible to completely remove. You can try a heavy duty carpet cleaner and keep airing out the room. We were lucky and he peed on hardwood floors, so for that we kept the windows open and fans going and used a cleaner with a neutral smell (be careful using something with a smell that may clash and make it worse).
Natures Miracle to clean any pee spots. After it is cleaned and dried, the smell is gone.
Ditto the suggestion to read the FAQ.
