Making new friends

I haven't done this in awhile, but how do you ask for a new friend's phone number lol? I met this new girl at church today and she's nice and it seems like we have a lot in common (omg this sounds like dating..). I have been trying to make new friends lately, so she seems like a blessing. But, what now? Do I ask her to do something? Do I get her number? How do I do this? I'm used to meeting people in school and having to exchange numbers for a project or something. Help!

Re: Making new friends

  • Haha H has this problem with other guys. That's so much harder to ask another guy for his number than it is for girls, IMO. If I were you, I'd find some way to ask her to do something "girly" that H wouldn't do with you - like, "Hey, H doesn't want to see this new chick flick with me, are you around next weekend?"

  • I agree that it isn't that easy to make friends these days. I'm part of a "girls group" from meetup.com and met a new friend through there. Luckily, it was easy enough to add each other on FB and write on her wall that we should get together for lunch sometime.

Hopefully the two of you can get together soon!

  • I think it would be easier to ask her to go for coffee or something than her phone number. I think that would turn into let's exchange numbers so we can pick a place to meet or whatever the case may be.
  • I know what you mean!  I usually say... I thought of you the other day when I saw/did/whatever this..... but then I realized I don't have your number!
  • I totally know what you mean! I'm in the same boat, since I haven't met a lot of people since we moved. There is a girl in my H's grad program, and I asked her where she gets her nails done around here. When she told me, I invited her to come with, since it's something my H obviously wouldn't want to do :) Definitely agree with the PP on picking a girly activity! Good luck!
