The Husband had a status on FB and an assortment of people were discussing our future moving plans. We're leaning towards a specific town if we stay in our current state. My MIL chimes in with: "[With that town] you lost the warm weather and good schools tho"
Me: "Future City has several highly rated schools."
MIL: "but again you are getting a high crime rate"
Me: "Current City Population: ~24,000 / Future City Population: ~69,000
Current City Crime Index: 314.6 / Future City Crime Index: 172
Current City Registered Sex Offenders: 90 / Future City: 51 "
---
So to boil that down.. more than double the population with half the crime.
She always does this! She thinks that just because you say something it is the same as a fact. No! That is an opinion, which does not apply to factual things! Gah!
Plus, I think growing up you think your parents are super smart and know everything.. so now My Husband will randomly say bizarre ass sh!t that has no factual basis, yet be completely convinced of what he is saying simply because he was told that particular 'fact' when he was growing up.
Re: Saying It Doesn't Make It So
Oh man, MH does this too...
but now thinking about it, I'm sure I say some crazy stuff as well.
I guess the only difference is factual proof. Give me that and I won't argue (too much, lol) whereas H will vigorously argue several points with flimsy points just because his parents said something related to that when he was younger.
I praise you for hitting her back with facts! Nice job.
Side note: I'm taking DH to see Mythbusters Live for his birthday. I'm intrigued at what types of myths they'll be doing on a stage.
Beat that, MIL! lol
I love the way you think!
How do you find out where/when Mythbusters will have a live show? I couldn't find it on their website. DH would definitely love this!
You've gotta be kidding me! They were just in my area this weekend...
