Issues with eating

I am having MAJOR issues with Delainey sitting at the table and eating. She will do whatever it takes to get up and move around and/or not eat. She is always wanting a hug, leaning over in her chair, dropping food, not eating her food, etc. I am in need of dier help. Please give me any and all advice.

Re: Issues with eating

  • If my little man is screwing around at dinner I make him get down. Every time. It is sort of painful, having to get down multiple times in one meal, but usually this works pretty fast (a night or two). Basically my kids know I have a low tolerance for crazy business at the dinner table. I am hungry & tired, don't give me trouble. ;)

Really, though, I think with any kind of behavioral thing consistency is the key. If you decide "x" behavior (throwing food, throwing spoons - this is a favorite of Ben's) is not acceptable at the dinner table, every time (EVERY TIME) she does that, she has to get down. We make Ben go stand over by the wall about 4 ft away. He usually stands there for maybe 15 seconds & then decides he'd rather sit with us. :)

Hope dinner time goes more smoothly for everyone at your house - I hate food wars!
