Good Snow mittens/gloves for kids

I've got about 100 pairs of regular stretchy gloves/mittens but the one pair of snow mittens we have he can't get his hands in. They are so tight and it's impossible for him to get his thumb in never mind pick something up or hold anything. The poor kid looked like Randy from a Christmas Story today, lol. And yesterday I had to switch his gloves 3 x's cause he had regular one's on that kept getting wet. Finally, he just burst into tears cause his hands were freezing. It took me 10 minutes to calm him down and get his hands warm. I need something better before it snows again.

Thanks!

  • i can never find ones that fit Griffin right either... for snow at least.

we also have tons of the knit type for regular play.... but the ones i got him for snow are now too tight... so at walmart today i got a bigger pair and they are huge but he loves them so screw it- we're keeping them... considering they only play out in the snow like 2x's a winter i don't care too much about it.

gray and gibby had fleece mittens on today - that aren't waterproof- and neither cared - they played for a while and didn't complain.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • I got a pair of mittens for Maya from Lands End that finally seem to do the trick.  Last winter (and yesterday) she could stay out in the snow for a while and her hands were fine.

  • We had the same problem. I had a pair of snow gloves from last year that looked big enough but they would not fit right. DH tried for like 10 mins before I said "forgot it!" I put a tight fitting pair of knit mittens on (her everyday gloves) and then a bigger pair of mittens over them (the mittens that came with her Circo Target hat). It seems to work well. I am not sure how much snow she actually put her her hands, but her hands weren't freezing when she came in. I think it would take a while for the water to soak through both pairs. I will have to look for something better next year but I am not sure I will invest this year.
