Got the "when are you having a baby?" question tonight!

At my mom's tongiht, I finally stuck up for myself and told my sister (not married and pushed her wedding back bc her fiance is lazy/immature) and my mother that it was none of their business that I do not have kids. I also said that no matter the response I give, them, it won't be good enough, so it;s not your business. They acted like I told them I was (fill in the black with something you think is awful).

They are out of control. It is basically accusatory as this point, so I had to put a stop to it.

  • Oh my! Good job standing up for yourself.  The same thing happened to me over Christmas and I had a meltdown, too. Life is tough enough without other people imposing their expectations on us!  Hopefully your family backs off a little and can pick up the hint to be more supportive. :)
  • Good for you!  I bet they don't ask you again about kids for a loooong time!

  • The expectations thing is what get sme.....like nothing DH and I do is good enoguh! We have been married 6 years, have good jobs, blah blah blah.......but oohhhh. we don't have a baby, so we are looked down on? I was OVER IT and glad I told them off.
  • People are so ridiculous.

I could not believe it, when DS was a month old, that people were on me about when #2 was coming. Givemeafuckingbreak!

  • UGH. I have told my family this too-when I have one, you'll nag me for the second when the 1st only a day old!
  • I'm mostly a lurker but this one amused me a lot.

I was literally still in the hospital after my son was born and people were already asking when I was going to have another one.  I'm sorry, I'm still bleeding like a stuck pig and can't sit down without crying and you want me to do what?

I started answering everyone with "When my husband grows a vagina."  That seemed to shut them up.

You have got to be kidding me. I would have lost my mind, Carrie style.
